I want to apply some gilding to parts of a turned bowl. I have some artificial gold leaf (brass I assume ) and a tube of what looks like crumpled copper flakes. The instructions say to cover with a lacquer when complete. The shop was also selling some glue to be used to apply these. This glue looked and smelt like very dilute PVA adhesive but was very expensive about £3.25 for 25mls
So 2 questions
1) Do you think diluted wood glue would work as well as the shop bought stuff.
2) What lacquer and how to apply it brush or spray ??
The bowls have no function other than to look good
I was planning to try a few experiments first but thought so advice may point me in the right direction
