Even if the poster immediately above would describe many of the things I am making as ‘mundane’.

There’s demand in the mundane and it pays, as you well know. There’s no comparing a fitted wardrobe made from sheets of faced MDF to a bespoke oak Welsh dresser in terms of craftsmanship, but the fitted wardrobes are more in demand so that’s why everyone and their grandmother is making them, with very little difference between manufacturers.
 
Yeah I'm to old for an apprenticeship plus there isn't many places that do furniture making apprenticeships up north to my knowledge even if I was young enough
 
look at it like this. your tig welding stuff that's in demand by businesses.its good and proper work. my mate did one one day at a large joinery shop( LAST WEEK)said its a right s/=÷hole and walked away. these are big as well. that's typical of the wood industry.cr$p money as well.
