Garden door

I had better try to explain what i am thinking of doing in my garden, then any tips would help.
Next to my work/shed i have built a pergola with hanging baskets on one side that is opposite to the shed, at the end is a 6 foot fence, the floor is tiled red and there is a seating area on one side.
Its the fence, it looks drab.
So my idea is to put a door there but not a door to go through, i don't think the office block next to us would like that but a door that would look like it led to a secret garden.
The door i would like it to be rounded at the top, with old fashion dummy hinges and handle.
Now i'm stumped before i've started, the door i will probably make from tung and groove its the door frame that seems to have me stumped.
Sorry if you all think i've lost the plot and have not explain my idea very good.

I think I see your conundrum....couldn't the solution be just 2 posts with a bit of iron scroll work going from one post to the other and following the the curve of the gate? You could train a rambling rose or clematis etc.

Hello Reg,

For a really basic way of doing this make a template of the curve you want to make. Buy some 8 x 2 > 9 x 2 treated or similar (on the basis it's a garden project but timber is up to you). Cut out curved staves from the 8 x 2 > 9 x 2. Then cut these staves and lay on top of each other in a brick bond kinda way, cutting nice sharp butt joint where they meet. Secure the layers with galv lost heads or similar and PU/D4 PVA.
Allow one stave to hang over on each end to crate a halving joint onto the vertical members/jambs. To make the union joint easy these could me made with layered 3 x 2 with the staves above cut the 3 x width.

Not high end joinery but it might be appropriate, hope your not too confused.
