Thinking of building a chair like this from hardwood and thinking of using Balau decking as it seems to be a fairly cheap hardwood and I'm guessing as it's used for decking it should be OK for garden furniture.

What are peoples thoughts, decking boards for slats and 50x50 spindles for the frame? Other wood that seems to be interesting is Lignia but need to call the timber yard (Chiltern timber) to get an idea of price.

Any recommendations for glue to use outdoors? Planning on doing joints with pocket screws and glue, seems to get a 50/50 mix of comments online saying outdoor PVA is fine and others saying use polyurethane (not planning on using expoxy glues).

Deaking boards seem a bit thick.

Why not just get 2x2 and rip it in half for the slats?

Nice project.

Cheers James
