Hi all,

I was wondering if you had any recommendations for furniture making evening/weekend courses in London? I have a design background, but I'm new to furniture making.

Thanks in advance!

You could try the London College of Furniture
Wonderful though the LCF courses would be, the OP wanted evening or weekend courses and the closest they offer is short one day courses on week days :(

I wonder if a better introduction might be a short intensive week course somewhere.
In my experience evening classes end up wasting too much course hours setting and up, clearing up have a break etc.... Spending an entire week at one place might get more teaching and hands on experience than a year of evening classes.

I concur with Rhossydd.

Get yourself off to Peters furniture college for a short course. I'm sure you wont regret it.

Depending on timing and logistics, a full-time short course would indeed be an option.

Our senior workshop tutor at uni also recommended The Cass; the introduction course is on Fridays, the intermediate and advanced courses on Saturdays. I will ask them if I can take my introduction elsewhere. Judging from the description of their intermediate course, they might even allow me to do Saturdays.

You could take a look at West Dean College. Not in London but a very nice place to spend a weekend or a week and very professional tuition.

It turns out there is an introduction running on Saturdays too (15 x 6hrs), I asked to be added to their waiting list.

Thank you all for the advice!
