Miles away - totally impractical...
Hi All,

I have to drill 14mm diam x c. 15mm deep holes in a 25mm face frame and door... The hole needs to be straight, clean, and accurate... So I'm wondering about the best approach... The face frames are in situ so some holes are overhead etc and also near to corners limiting space (i.e. I can get a drill in there but not a router). Assuming I'm drilling, which is the best drill bits? My experience extends to spade, auger, and lip & spur bits. Space and auger both seem a little aggressive so I'm really wondering whether there are any alternatives to lip & spur that would be better for this size of hole?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

This is what I use,

Experimented with a 13mm spade bit and was surprised how clean the hole was, then recalled it is usually the exit hole that suffers with a spade bit. The holes I need to drill in the doors and frames will not go all the way through so I'm thinking a spade bit, with a guide of some sort, will probably be OK.
