I came across this recently, thought I'd share it in case anyone else is interested. It's called 'The lost scrolls of handwork', it's a one-man operation so somewhat idiosyncratic, but full of good stuff - the third and latest edition has an extensive article on making laminated moulding planes.

Hover over 'HANDWORK magazine' to download.

Cheers,

Thanks for that - I'd not come across it, and it does cover things I am interested in, so I will follow it from now on. (I'd followed the "Work" project at https://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/sto ... /blog/work which you will want to be aware of if you aren't already.)

There's an impressive amount of effort that has gone into it. Much of the effort of publishing without any financial reward.

I nearly didn't bother though - reading it on a mobile the download button did not work - I expect it needs Flash - and I didn't fancy installing a poorly reviewed app just to get a pdf.

Yup, thanks for sharing here too Carl. Had a glance through it last night and looks interesting. Fair play to the guy for investing so much of his time and effort. Worth supporting if only by bolstering his readership a little. I admire anyone with the desire to share knowledge at their own expense.

@ Andy: Same issue here mate, thought I'd download it to the mobile so I could have a read at work on any (sadly irregular) downtime, no joy. Might just plug the phone into the pc and transfer as a file to get round it. Not your point (obviously) and a long winded solution but a workaround at least.

People are not paying directly to read or download the scans but they are hosted on a commercial website, and one can argue the scans are acting as promotional material for the business, and that's the financial award.

One thing I disagree with strongly is the website claiming copyright; on each page at the bottom it says "copyright 2012 blah blah blah at blah blah blah", At least they didn't put a huge watermark across the page.
