Hi Mick I had a look at the Axminster one the other one I was looking at was the eqivalent SIP but is is £589 can get Fox for £408 dont mind paying mabit more for better quality anyone got the Axminster ED32F Heavy Duty Pillar Drill.

Alan

Fox and Axminster have different motors, speeds and chuck - or so it seems looking at their specs sheets.

That drill turns up all over in various guises, its essentially a Chinese drill that gets painted and badged per distributor. As RogerP has pointed out, they sometimes differ in motor Kw, chuck MT size and other variants such as single or triple phase.

Chester tools do a version (D32) as well, which I have;

Its a hefty beast, although I can man-handle it around the shop when needed. I too looked at the Fox version at Poolewood;

I suspect Poolewood is probably where you are looking, they will do free delivery and may negotiate the price if you ask. I went with the Chester D32 as it came up on Ebay for £200 (never used) down the road from me and it was too good to miss. If I hadn't I would have gone with the Fox.

I suspect they are similar in build and quality and whilst not a fantastic pillar drill, you get a lot of metal and chuck capacity for your money. Be warned I found a fair bit of slop in the column on mine, but I easily removed it with some fine tuning.

Hi Shed 9,yes have been looking at Fox on Poolwood site have looked at various variants and Fox seems the best value I might keep an eye on Ebay and gumtree for a week or two before I decide.

Alan, If your in no particular hurry, I agree that would make sense.

Also, drop Poolewood an email and ask if there is any movement on the price or if they will throw in a vice or some other accessories. They will negotiate when and where they can and they are a good bunch of people.
