Looking at the new Rutlands catalogue I have seen a Fox Pillar Drill which seems pretty highly specced vs competitive set at that price point.

here

I have no experience of Fox and while I'm not a tool snob I also don't want to buy twice. Has anyone got good or bad things to say about their stuff? I'm assuming that Fox won't be at Tools 2005 if they aren't stocked by APTC (not showing as exhibiting)

Does it look like a good buy?

Cheers

Tim - I bought a Fox Bench Top Morticer (F14650) and am really really pleased with it.

One problem I had (broken switch) on delivery was replaced by return post (Rutlands).

However, there was an electrical problem I found when swapping the switch - see here (hope this works:

Never really got a definitive response from them. Function and cost - really good value - tho' it would be worth just checking the electrics - the motors / switches are probably all the same spec for this size machine

I bought a small fox bench top drill about 18 months ago.
It has not seen a vast amount of use but seems ok so far.
I use it more for metalwork than wood.
The belt changing is a bit fiddly but I tend to just keep it on a slow speed
and leave it there.
The laser could be useful for repetitive work once you have set it.
The table is not very big so if your planning to do big jobs then you
could always make a bigger wooden top to go over it.
