I am a relative newcomer to wood turning and I bought a Fox lathe about 6 months ago and the drive belt has broken. I have contacted the importers and they are sending me a new belt (free as lathe is under 1 year old) but would appreciate advice on where to obtain new belts from a source close to home in West Wiltshire. Any comments would be most gratefully received.

Thanks

Up the proverbial creek
Welcome to the forum, ted. Refreshing my memory via the archives, Noel recommends http://www.wyko.co.uk/ for link belts (and others available presumably?), various persons suggest http://www.lathes.co.uk and also engineering suppliers were mentioned. Persual of the Yellow Pages sounds in order in that case. :D

Cheers, Alf

Welcome aboard Ted
I sourced a much needed belt from a local bearing supplier who seems to stock related products... as Alf suggests, peruse the local yell pages.

Chronos (in the UK) do a plastic type belt which can be cut to length and easily 'welded' with a hot knife... prob make a useful standby...
