Bah.. that tiny mortise is nothing... I hired a 6.5HP machine when I needed to mortise my front garden to plant a hedge at the bottom.

Some of you woodworkers might call the thing I made a 'ditch'.. but then again.. where's the fun in using the right names for things

I watched it twice and I still couldn't believe what I saw. Using a circular saw without a guide, and did you see how he expertly used his chisel. I knew I was going wrong somewhere.

PS and pulling the router towards you, unbelievable!!

Using a circular saw without a guide

whats wrong with that. Many years ago you didn't have the nice fancy guides like you do these days. This is how we use to rip sheets of ply on site.

Aye, his chisel method was quite interesting.. worrying that this stuff is on YouTube and beginners end up watching it to try and learn how to cut a 'mortise'

On another thought, 'The Wood Whisperer' has all his video's on youtube - some good stuff there and worth a watch.

This guy is bad for our image a real plonker
The router was also feed the wrong way against the straight edge!
