an idea i have been thinking about for some time to get more people joining in and posting photos, also giving others inspirations when it comes to tool making. a chance to show off those special tools

my idea is to have different threads, like one for planes, chisels, saws, marking tools, measuring tools , moulding making tools ete etc the list is endless.

so someone post a couple of pictures of one or two items that they love and cherish and tell us a little bit of info about it.

what do you think? :duno:

im quite happy to start the ball rolling with my own examples

Hi,

My favorite tools are ones I have made my self, like my scraper plane

it smooths difficult grain with ease.
And my shoulder plane

Great for making tenons fit.

Between them they make woodworking much easier and enjoyable.

excellent pete but you jumped the gun slightly, the plan was to have a thread for each category,

Can I suggest that you amend "measuring" to "measuring and marking" - several forum members have made some nice marking knives and other marking tools. Also can you add mallets - quite a lot of forum members have made their own.

Cheers
