I fitted a small window yesterday, to the rear of a building constructed using SIP panels. I had assumed that I would be dealing with PU sandwiched between OSB. What was there was, according to the customer, Refrigeration Panels. These comprised very thin outer faces of white painted metal, covering a chunky rock-wool core. Luckily the opening had been cut out by the builder. And the outside was battened and clad in thick Doug Fir boards. I managed to get a fix by housing short lengths of tile batten into the insulation - two to each face of the opening. I fitted the window and window board, but have to return to line both sides of the window opening and apply a basic architrave.
The question I have to ask is ' How do you get a reliable fix, when the only thing you have to fasten in is soft squidgy insulation?'
