Do I need a special drill bit to drill the new holes, I wouldn't want it to shatter. any other words of caution would be appreciated. also what to bevel the holes with.

Thanks

Hi David,
I take it you are asking about drilling the insert plate for the table to accept your router?
If so I presume it's a phenolic (or whatever they call it) insert plate?
When I drilled mine (Axminster) I used a small drill for a pilot hole and for greater accuracy and then drilled through once again with another drill to finished size, which for my router was 5mm holes to accept 4mm screws for a Makita.
I just used ordinary hss jobber drills, everything went without a hitch.
Hope that helps.
ps. I used a board underneath when drilling to support the plate with the hope of preventing any surface breakout.

Thanks for that, yes it is the insert plate that comes wit the Dakota table I was just unsure about drilling it. there is nothing about it in the leaflet.

Cheers

I removed the plastic base plate from my router (Makita) and offered that up to the insert plate for the correct hole location.
Im not sure if your insert plate also has the circular markings on the back also?
My one did and it makes it very easy to centre the router baseplate before drilling by simply lining it up with the circular lines.

Looks like it is the phenolic type.
The way i did mine was to use the sub base from the router. Line it up on the insert, keeping it central. Using the holes in the sub base to drill through with a pilot bit. Then carry on with a bigger clearance hole plus counter sink. Make the counter sink a bit deeper so the screw can sit below the surface of the plate. :)
