well I had a go today and cut this cross out very interesting cutting while you pedal and I can testify its not as easy as it looks although to be fair the piece is has some tight turns

I used a standard hegner number three blade nothing fancy re threading blade for internal cuts was quite quick no more difficult than on the hegner

how your positioned at the saw is critical and I still playing around with that , its all about rhythm I find it good fun though
I am sure after this piece cutting my angels will be quite easy

the cross is cut from 6mm ply and the pattern is made up of random shapes to spell the words

thanks guys , martin no I could detect any side ways movement the blade cuts pretty sweet, turnings the hardest bit as blade under load there is a bit of a knack to keeping speed up when turning , the guys in those vids make it look easy I think its just practice and more practice !

how your sat makes a difference in how smooth you can treadle and it totally different to just making it go round without cutting any work ,sat to high or to low or to near or too far away makes a difference , again its just finding the right place and you need a heavy solid chair , I noticed the guy on you tube has got his seat and machine fixed down and I can see why

nice work Mark, I always think when you make something without power tools it's much more satisfying
