Hi all

i know there are some fantastic kitchen builders out there so i'd like to pick your brains (and anyone else who wants to add their experiences in to the mix)

I have been building wardrobes/alcoves etc for many years....all out of MR MDF finished with Morrells 2-pac paints (i have my own booth). I've now been asked to build a face frame kitchen out of.....wait for it, real wood (hooorah)

Thing is, ive never done it. the doors and face frames i'm ok with, its making pine units that i'm worried about. I've seen and used pine furniture board and dont particularly like it.....is there any other product more suitable? Faced MDF is a no no as well.

thanks in advance

Mike

Should have added. The base units will be free standing with one at 1600 wide holding a Belfast sink in the middle section them 2 cupboard sections either side.

So does that leave veneered ply ?

If the pine furniture board you refer to is the diy superstore type stuff, then yes, don't use it, go to a proper wood yard for your pine (or a huge variety of other woods)

I have used the superstore pine t&g flooring before though to good effect, table, shelving etc but you have to take off the relief cuts from underneath

And I can't afford Festool but have great success with biscuits and a dedicated powertool
