I've wanted to use this for a while so after making a couple of bandsaw boxes and a heart shaped trinket box,
out came the flocking kit. The kit consists of a 3 oz tub of flocking, doesn't sound much but there is a lot,
a colour matched tin of adhesive which looks more like a tin of Dulux Signal Red, and an applicator. The applicator
is simply two card board tubes that fit together, the top part having a few holes in. You use this in a pumping action
to blow the flock out. Quite easy once you get the hang of it and gives very pleasing results.

That looks incredibly professional. I wonder how it will hold up to everyday wear? Please keep us posted.

I've been wondering the same thing Custard, hopefully it will still look as good after a couple of years. I have nothing to compare it to sadly as
I have never used felt as a lining. I did read an article, saying that it could have been a comment made on a you tube video, that one chap in
the states had been using it since 1984, hopefully that'll be reason enough!
Alexam gave me a good tip, that was to use chalkboard paint on the inside of the bandsaw boxes as the wood varied in colour so much. With the
heart I gave it two coats of sanding sealer and then applied the adhesive.

Not even a smiley face after that? What are you, some kind of robot?

:D

Does look good though, even if getting the flock out of there afterwards is hard work... 8)

That worked excellently, every bit as good as commercial flocking. In fact it's a lot better than the last example of it I saw.

Not by a log shot Wuffles, but I would never use such crude innuendos on an open forum :D

Comes out pretty easy really, I left the bandsaw boxes 24 hours, the heart was left for about 18. A gentle brushing to remove the
excess as it's re-usable and then used the blow gun at a distance.

Thanks Ed65, I hope the next lot turn out the same. :D

Very nice Pete, you certainly did that well and have some lovely boxes which should sell well. Kee up the good work.

Malcolm

Appreciate the advice on the blackboard paint Malcolm, although I didn't use masking tape when it came to the adhesive, I thought it got in
the way. I used the side of the brush near the tops so I could see what was going on.

I've been looking for that kit for a long time, could only find it in the states, where did you buy it please?

I bought mine from Turners Retreat, http://www.craft-supplies.co.uk They do a three colour kit which saves a little cash, but you only get the
one applicator which you have to clean out in between use. Colours are Cardinal Red, Black, Green, Royal Blue.

Many moons ago I paid some clowns to flock a dashboard for me. Yours is far better =D>
