Hi all,

Made a small single drawer console table for quiet corner of living room. Wife wants it finished in a stone colour emulsion we have on the wall in our hall.... #-o

Can I apply this emulsion direct to table...(MDF) or do I need undercoat prior to top coat(s)

Thank you

MDF sealer, undercoat then topcoats. Maybe you can get the same colour in a paint that's not emulsion.

Thanks.

Paint was a mix of 2 colours...a stone colour and white !!

I'd practice on a piece of scrap first if I was you in case the finish isn't as you want it, that way you haven't ruined your table. You'll have to do a bit of work on ant exposed MDF edges too - since they absorb paint and the fibres swell. Search this forum for techniques.

Prime first (zinsser do excellent primers, and I've also been using crown grip extreme). Apply your emulsion, then seal it with a clear varnish ( satin or flat Matt - polyvine do a great range)
