How do folks on this forum normally finish drawers. The drawer bases slide in. Should I seal base and carcase separately and then assemble or assemble first and then finish the completed drawer? Finish is acrylic sanding sealer and acrylic lacquer.

Just wondering.

I do the base, then assemble the drawer and then finish the drawer, I use shellac for the inside, and a wax for the outside, (the front has a matching finish to the rest of the piece)

I find most finishes smell a little funny (eventually) when applied to inside drawers and cupboards, Shellac does not suffer from this - Lemon Oil is always a nice alternative for inside drawers. The wax finish helps it slide nicely.

That just how I do it
