Hi
I'm hoping that a few suggestions/tips from fellow woodworkers may help me return these pillars to original beauty.
I've recently been lucky enough to run into a high end kitchen furniture company moving workshop locations and for some reason I'm not sure why has given me quality products and refused money to transfer hands. The list is endless and ridiculous at this point I filled my big car 'transit van size 3 times' off I went to Liverpool
Within this lot I have 6 maybe 7 Oak pillars (lost count of everything) most at about 3' foot tall one about 5'tall and approx 8 inches square both ends (turned in middle) they are beautiful weigh a tonne and new never installed. On closer inspection recently I have noticed that they are not one turned piece but to halves joined together however on the joint I have noticed that the filler has cracked and shrank and requires filling.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to a high quality product maybe putty and not wood filler due to shrinkage, I used to live in US and have used minwax colored products over there I have not been happy with wood fillers in UK after a quick look today I think I have now realised it is due to me obviously using putty there and filler here.
These are light oak possibly white American Oak and appear to have a natural finish which obviously I will need to match.
Many thanks in advance
Sam
