Dear All,

as some of you may recall from another thread, I need to repair the broken rosewood tote of an old plane.

Here's the problem: once the tote is glued, and any gaps are filled, the hard filler (epoxy) may need to be stained, dyed or painted to make the repair blend in. Should the filled bit be stained in order to match the unfinished rosewood, or should the colour anticipate the finished shade of the rosewood (i.e colour=rosewood+varnish)?

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks.
Jeremy
