:) Morning all. And a very wonderful morning it is here in West Cornwall. Why travel when you're already there! ...Anyway, I digress. I've been looking at buying a few faceplate rings from Axi, but there are a couple that seem to be of slightly different design but of similar sizes.Surely a dovetail ring is much the same as any other dovetail ring (assuming the same diameter? I'm hoping to use them across two or three different designs of jaws. Any info. will be gratefully received, either on the rings themselves or else anywhere better or cheaper to buy them.
Tia, Phil.

They all have a dovetail to match the jaw spigot.

But are different diameters to match the optimum PCD of the respective jaws.
Using a larger ring on a smaller PCD jaw set will work for light loads but results in a poor limited contact area at the resultant presented jaw central high point. (Obviously a larger diameter jaw set won't fit in a smaller ring)

So there's no difference other than the diameters then?
As far as I'm aware, fixing screw sizes may be different but it is some time since I saw any on the shelves at axminster.
Small difference in pattern for the A size possibly for stability on the larger expected loads.

I made my own to fit the type C jaws.

Hi

Correct - the dovetails are matched to either the A, B, C or F jaws.

The 'A' faceplate ring Pt No 500166 appears to have an additional dovetail but I can't see which jaw set this is compatible with from the website.

Regards Mick
