Thanks mate, I thought these were ok for the price, cheers phil.

i would use that caveat- alright for the price. If you were a pro, I would probably suggest getting something better. As a hobbiest, they are good value.

What sort of speaker are you making?

I'm interested in DIY speakers...I still use the centre speaker I made for my AV system many moons ago and I also made a VOX AC30 clone using an original chassis found on Fleabay..the middle one of this stack:

I think for the VOX I must have used ever cramp I had in the workshop during one stage or another!

Happy to help with selection if you let us know what you're planning

Troels gravesen design called the Jensen seas er cheers phil

Interesting design.....I wouldn't mind seeing how this progresses...perhaps you could post the WIP on the UKW under General section?

I built the centre speaker using the Kirsten Ougaard software to create a twin 4" transmission line rear ported design:

As I say...I still use it to this day and that project started over 11 years ago. It's had one replacement bass speaker because, being close to the floor it suffers from passing Dysons...(took a while to forgive that little accident!)....

The cabinet is made of MDF which was a mistake in my opinion. I would build it in thick birch ply now but of course...that increases the cost. In those days I didn't realise you had to seal MDF before you painted it and I think I used a couple of gallons of paint before I realised that the MDF was eating it for breakfast!!

Re your original question...for a one off project I would get the cheapest you can from fleabay....secondhand ones would be fine..bootfairs are where I get mine. Silverline are pretty "basic" but anything will do for one job.

Cheers mate

You could do worse than looking at the Rutland's parallel clamps.

They have 6 for £60 in their sale at the moment.

I've had some for several years and they have been absolutely fine.

Someone said they're rebadged Record sash cramps, if so it would irresponsible not to get half a dozen at those prices! That's basically a lifetime's cramping sorted in one affordable purchase.
