You know where you went wrong of course? Using the Leigh... :wink: But let's look on the bright side. Wood filler manufacturers will be kept in business a little longer, which must be a Good Thing. And actually it doesn't look half bad to me.

Re your top, perhaps you could run a biggish bevel groove around the joint line to disguise things?

I've never seen the Leigh squiggly joints anywhere except the Leigh adverts. Be interested to hear how you get on with them on a good day? Do you have all the templates?

Aldel, my projects often go wrong, but its only through continuing on you learn techniques to overcome such problems. Admittedly you had plenty on this occasion, but on future projects, you will have learnt a few "quick-fix" remedies which may get you out of a hole.

Sorry Tony, I used a Rat and a Leigh Jig.
At risk of provoking a fight between the pro's and anti's I find both excellent.
I no longer have all the Leigh templates purely because I could not warrant keeping them all. A few years ago I was commisioned to make some sales presentation boxes for a company that sold specialist laser cutting tools and they wanted unusual joints that reflected their business. They were amazed, paid me generously and so the templates and jig, in effect cost me nothing.
The templates are versatile and (normally!!!) easy to use. 3/4 thick wood and an upcut spiral cutter are best.

In my line of work, this stuff happens on a daily basis... can almost set your watch by it..

invariably someone will come in, shoot the breeze a while and ask a few "I'm trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about" kinda questions... make what they think are semi-intelligent noises in response to your answers... then it happens... never fails...

"It looks Good Mike...!".....

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....!!!

from then on in... anything / everything that can go wrong... guaranteed to go t hell in a handbasket... drill bits breaking, cordless batteries expiring, heat element in the heat-shrink gun gone south for the winter, D-types wired with first/last pins transposed... the list goes on...

kiss of death I calls it... works every time.....
