Ever seen a bandsaw like this before?

It looks like the top part is from something old and belt driven (and the bottom wheel), and the rest is home made, but really well. I guess it takes a trailer hitch in front of the jockey wheel.

I came across something similar (but much smaller) in a car park in a north Italian village a couple of weeks ago on holiday. I didn't take pics as it was wrapped in heavy plastic and you couldn't really see anything. But I had a look at the blade fitted, and concluded it was for butchery. Could this one be too, but on a bigger scale?

If it's for wood, it might be a bit hard to use 'in the field' because it looks like it's got no levelling jacks, and there's no provision for a sliding table or resawing fence. Nice bit of kit though.

You may well be right about the butchery Eric or it may be used for cross cutting logs to size (for the woodburners) rather than resawing. It would be an alternative to the circular saw blades the shove on the back of their tractors!!!
