I'm trying to replicate a project, a plywood sharpening station for japanese waterstones, that I was told worked well with an epoxy finish. Clearly the point is that it's supposed to be hard wearing and waterproof.

I've never used the stuff before. Can someone point me in the direction of a product that's readily available in the UK and might suit this purpose. I don't mind mail ordering if I have to, or is there something that I could pick up from a 'chain' like screwfix, toolstation, B&Q, Axminster?

Any brief tips or links to similarly finished projects appreciated - my own google searches were unconvining and showed mainly 'river tables' and two part adhesives.

Yeah I did a bit more research into this last night and was coming to that conclusion. If I had some left over to use up I might but it looks seriously messy.
