Does anyone have a link to a list of EN steel numbers, strengths, machinability etc? I can find loads of SAE lists, loads of general steel bumpf and how they’re designated, but lo simple of list of numbers and strength, etc.

This must be pretty easy to find so I’m obviously searching for the wrong things.

thanks.

If you are talking about E numbers like EN1, EN8 etc I think part of the problem is that they have been obsolete in industry since about 1972. The other problem is that for many grades of steel the mechanical properties depend on the state of heat treatment. Steel grades can be classified according to mechanical properties but also according to chemical composition, hardenability, weldability, bendability etc.

There is some limited discussion in Tubal Cain's Model Engineers Handbook and in Harold Hall's Metalworker's data book.
