Emir closing down?

Has Emir closed down?

I was reading the recent thread on Emir wooden planes and decided to have a look at their website, eg:

which turns up a blank page with "This website has been deactivated".

I also read they made all their staff redundant in 2015, Workbench maker to shave staff

Then I read the later post on that thread which mentioned they're closing down.

Never seen any of their tools on this side of the pond. Interesting last name for the owner - did she come from...

...oops, just went back to look to see if the article answered my question, and yes, it did - from the german family shot off as an English business in 1932. Next 10+ years may have been a little tough for that group!!

Yes they closed. There was an auction a couple of months ago selling their workshop machines, wood, unsold stock etc
