Just treated myself to one of these!

http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-in ... rod649822/

I knew that my electrical supply would need upgrading and have duly fitted a dedicated 16 amp supply. Nothing else on the circuit and cable run of about 18 feet.

The bloody thing keeps blowing the breaker and I've yet to get it to run.

With an apparent start up requirement of 14.5 amps surely a 16 should be OK?

I can't believe I need to consider a 32 amp breaker?!

I have a call in to Axminster but wondered if anyone here (Bob?) might be able to shed any light (if the breaker doesn't pop again! - that's a pun!).

Hi Stuart,

I had this problem with my tablesaw and was advised to get a "motor" rated 16A CB. Since this was fitted I have had no further problems.

HTH.

Has it run at all, or does the breaker go as soon as the switch is pressed ?

You get that big 'clunk' as the switchgear tries to fire up and then the breaker goes.

Not running as such but you can tell it's trying!

Fit a type C breaker.

I've just looked at the spec for that saw. Absolutely no way that the starting current will be limited to 14.5 amps , that is the likely RUN current for that machine, starting will be nearer 30amps or more.
16a type c should handle that.

Oh and dont forget to get that massive disscount of thirtyfive pence when you by the digital angle setter. :)

Hope all goes well.

20 amp C type ordered to be on the safe side.

I will do a review of the saw when I actually get it running!
