I bought an item, which broke in transit. The seller was very good about it and immediately refunded my PayPal payment.

He doesn't want the item back; I think I can mend it (and I've paid him a small amount towards it).
We've corresponded about it, and I think we're both as happy as practical in the circumstances.

eBay now shows me as a non-paying buyer!

Does anyone know which of us has to do what in order to get the deal cancelled, as far as eBay is concerned?

TIA,

E.

PS: my loathing for both eBay and PayPal deepens with every passing day. If only the former wasn't so bloomin' handy! It's like a drug - "I'll find one on eBay!" Fine if not one single thing happens out of process. Grrr.

I think that you will have to raise a dispute. Alternatively he can probably cancel the sale but again, I think it starts with opening a dispute.

I've just had to do this with someone who bid on an item of mine but was too far away to collect and didn't realise it was collection only.
Your seller has to open a case stating why he wants to cancel the transaction and that you both agree to it, you then have 7 days to reply at your end.

The seller will still have to pay his fees because it is not e-bays fault it was damaged.I think you can go to the item in Your e-bay and mark it as paid in the drop down menu for other actions.
