I happened to get this saw for just £1 from one of those wonderful Norfolk Saturday Car Boots a few weeks back 8)
Very nearly did not buy it owing to the vast amount of saws I have already (must be 40-50 backsaws  ) but 2 pig-stickers,1 WARD socket paring gouge and this for £4 was an offer I could not refuse
Apparently loads had already looked and asked but put it down......
The blade is so thin and unfortunately the back has lost it's "nip"

Cheers
Andy

The flat base to the handle indicates a Sheffield maker and is called a "London Pattern" I believe and I know at the back of my mind I remember something about the "Peace Works" but I can't remember where I've sèen it...

It might have been on here...worth a search.

Sorry...nothing else yet.

I think you nailed it Tom.

I was trying to work out the connection....as Peace was listed as an American company but I think this article shows it was both and my guess is that the simple "Peace" back mark indicates pre-emigration and therefore early 1800s.

Well done mate!

Night owl too I see!!
