E Mail problem

My email has suddenly gone, well, gone. Can send but cannot receive:
Get this- "The server responded with an error. Account: 'pop.virgin.net', Server: 'mail.virgin.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90"
Running IE and have AVG Pro and ZoneAlarm. Does the part of the error message that mentions "ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server" a hint at the problem? Virgin confirm that all is ok at their end.

you're welcome. Posting whole EMs into google is a lesson I've learnt from our own IT guys. Don't foget the "dog ears" though.

Your problems though have further reinforced my desire never to go back to PC based email applications.
