DW111 Rise and fall screw

I'd be grateful for advice.
I have disassembled my DW111 and partly cleaned up the screw thread that raises and drops the main arm.
However, at the top of the screw there is a ? ball race which needs to come off before one can take the screw apart from the pillar. This 'ball race' sits just below the winding handle
Any ideas as to how to remove it please? I've tried tapping it as much as I dare.

You ideally want a bearing puller if its not playing the game. Make sure the shaft the bearing must travel over is clean and there's no debris etc on it.
 
Are you sure it’s a bearing? Looks like a solid piece of metal to me unless there’s a bearing hiding underneath it.
