I heard about this on Simon Mayo today so I suppose is true but for the love of God why do they make things so flippin complicated! Just use the credit card bit and nothing else like the rest of the civilised world.

I've hired loads of cars without the paper copy. Often they checked with the DVDs but never an issue.

Can't really see the problem. Surely you just take your old paper one with you when you go abroad?

That's the problem - if you've a recent licence or you've changed your address, you won't have one. Swmbo is just going through this at work - she's been asked by her employer for her paper copy, and we've moved house (she lost the old one, not that it would have been any use - it's a bank, and they are anal when it comes to petty rules).

Interesting re addresses. Recently I have been experimenting with my billing address when paying on line - even to the point of making up a fictitious address albeit with valid postcode. Never has their checking software bothered to flag up any errors and block the charge. Makes you wonder.
