I am currently thinking about dust extraction for my new workshop and came across this new video from Stumpy Nubs which seems to be a really good summary of mistakes to avoid. If you've seen it or have no need of advice on the topic apologies for a superfluous posting otherwise it's worth a watch. Cheers.

Hi BSW, when I set up my present workshop about eight years ago I came across a local ad for ducting, the guy was retiring and at the time I thought I’d bought a dusty pile of old rubbish but it’s proved it’self invaluable. The main extractor unit and most of the piping was £450 it then cost me another £400 for a few more bends and straights, that’s when I realised what the original system must’ve cost. It’s a three-phase beast terminating the motor at about 10”? diameter. Might be worth keeping your eyes open. Ian
Edit, sorry pics withdrawn, personal reasons.

He talks a lot of sense & I've certainly made a couple of the mistakes he has over the last 16 years in my present workshop. There’s not a blast gate on my system these day, not a single Y or T piece & my extraction has never been better as shown by the fact I no longer have to clean piles of shavings out of machines.

Have you a thread with your solution Doug? Or could you take a few pics and give us a brief description.
