Dust Extraction Best Tube?

I have had a 2000w dust extractor now for many years. It's got a 4" hole, but I have attached a reducing thing to bring it down to 2.5"

All the fixed tubing is then 2.5", a 20' central run with a 10' branch and two 6' branches. This may then be reduced to 2" for the tools.

My question, is this the most efficient setup, or would I be better off to run all the fixed tube in 4" and then reduce to the required size at the last minute?

Yes it makes sense and yes keep it 100mm until the last minute - it will make a very significant difference in air flow.
