I have had a Kufo drum sander (630mm wide) for several years now and so far has worked pretty well and saved me a lot of work. Recently the feed roller motor has been stopping when I have been in the middle of sanding a board. In order to restart it I have to wind down the sanding table and slacken of the motor and feed chain for the sanding table. I am not sanding boards wider than about 300mm wide and take very little off in each pass. This is beginning to annoy me know as it is happening more and more frequently. Does anyone think it might be a sign that the motor is chock full of sanding dust or something similar. I run a big 3 motor dust extractor when sanding but dust still gets everywhere. The motor is only 3/4 hp which does seem a little on the small side to me but it doesnt overheat at all.
Anyone got any ideas for me to try out.
Thanks

Mike

I'm not familiar with this machine but a few suggestions, over load protection is often in the switch gear so that would be worth checking for dust etc. if it is fitted with a no volt release it could also be caused by bad/dirty contacts in the switch.

I mean the motor actually stops rotating. When the load is removed from the motor I can start it again no problem. Its like it is straining with a load it should cope with no problem.
