Having struggled to drill a whole bunch (hundreds) of 3mm holes with my cordless drill (building the "torsion box" bench stand from Bugbear's links page) I decided to buy a mains drill as they are so much better for tasks like that (and any excuse for a new tool). In the process I was looking up the rpm I would need, as many of the few ordinary old rotary mains drills on the market these days are aimed at steel, and have low rpm's of c 700 (i.e. much like a cordless).
Anyway, found this on my travels, which might be useful to others.
