I don`t measure them, I turn them to the exact size I need :D

Good for you Jim

The reason I ask is that I have a lot of beech/pine draw knobs for sale but before I advertise them I need to know how to measure them in order to say what I've got :)

Ah, that`s different, normally measured across the widest part of the knob.

Hi Dog,

I note that you have lots of drawer knobs. When you have sold them d'ya fancy making about 90,000 acorns per year

Somebody has posted a request for them in the Forum on:
http://www.woodturners.co.uk/

Wonder what on earth they want them for  :?

Cheers,

Trev.

Maybe they want to do the same as Nelson & Collingwood 200 years ago.
Nelson ordered oak trees to be planted in the Forest of Dean & Collingwood always carried acorns to spread around the countryside.
Neither could conceive of a British Navy of any but oak ships & were ensuring a supply for the future.
HMS Victory needs repairs this year & they will be using 2 of the trees Nelson ordered.

Poor ol' Victory. Seems like she needs repairs every year  ; they should have kept her pickled in salt water instead of putting her in dry dock. :(

Cheers, Alf

Just taking one of her pet peeves for an airing.

Trev, I might have an answer to the quantity required by that person. Being a 'Dog' I've got a fairly reliable nose, so, I looked at the contact email address of the person requesting that amount of acorns and part of the address is Milltex, quick look on google reveals that name as manufacturers of blinds etc, acorns are used on the end of some blind strings....I might be wrong though

http://www.milltex.co.uk/ Check out the accessories section ;)
