Good day everyone!

I'm planning on getting FESTOOL DF 500 soon, got tired of drilling dowels and my next project kind of begs for it.

However, I can't decide which size of dominos would suit my parts with cross-section 43x39 mm.
I can't find the dimensions of different dominos. Like there is size 8X50, but what is the width of these bloody things?

It's hard to see how many will fit and in what orientation to put them.

You may find this helpful....although this must be an older reference because there is a 4mm x 20mm Domino now !

The width of an oblong dowel is 13 + dowel size for the 500 and 13.5 + dowel size for the 700.

EG 4mm x 20mm will be 17mm wide. A 12mm for the 700 will be 25.5mm wide

I see! So, there are no really dowels with distance between centres 19 and 23?

The 500 moves / oscillates 13mm on it's tight setting, so with a 6mm oblong dowel it will be 13 mm + r + r which is the same as 13 mm + d therefore 19mm. The width of the oblong dowel depends upon its thickness, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 10 but never more than 50mm long because of the 500's plunge depth of 27mm compared to the 700's 70mm plunge depth.
