I've got the next best thing-the Missus had her new Dell laptop delivered 30 mins ago and I'm "setting it up" for her. I definitely not surfing the woodie sites from the comfort of the front room sofa! \/

Ours is all set up but could do with some advice.
I have made the back up disks (4xcd's) and I have also saved a back up on the hard drive which appears to have been partitioned. Why do I have disks if there is a back up on the drive? Or do the disks work like a start up if needed?
Second question:-
I only have one rom drive DVD dual layer.
Tried to make a copy disk last night and got lost.
Inserted the original disk in which was read, saved the reading as a file on my documents as I was prompted to save, and then inserted the blank disk in and then used send to e drive. Later I was instructed to enter a blank cd again and proceed with another write.
However the disk can not be read although 429mb have been used.
Burning system supplied is NTI and is an Acer laptop.
