quite a few people have had problems making chuck adapters that run true when used. I offer the following advice that has worked for me on a number of occasions.
Remember the thread is there for fixing purposes (so don't make it a tight fit) and the alignment is on the collar and shoulder so when turning them in another lathe leave a little to come off, then put the adapter on the lathe it is to be used on and without the chuck fitted use a slow speed and a hand scraper to true up the face and final size location collar. when the chuck is then fitted it will run true.

.... or cheat, and have a metal lathe and wood lathe with the same nose :D .

Mystro and Super-7 for example......................

Seriously, the other way, if you enjoy metal work, is to turn a mandrel between centres with the appropriate thread and register. Then you can make adaptors as and when you want.

even turning on a mandrill you are reliant on the accuracy of the metal lathe. Hence my prefered method of finishing on the lathe it is being used on.
