quite a few people have had problems making chuck adapters that run true when used. I offer the following advice that has worked for me on a number of occasions.
Remember the thread is there for fixing purposes (so don't make it a tight fit) and the alignment is on the collar and shoulder so when turning them in another lathe leave a little to come off, then put the adapter on the lathe it is to be used on and without the chuck fitted use a slow speed and a hand scraper to true up the face and final size location collar. when the chuck is then fitted it will run true.
