Total surprise to me, usually these things are fairly well known, but didnt have a clue on this one.

Pretty well known, I think. The two guys that started B & Q (their initials BTW, the names I've forgotten) based the corporate imaging on Home Depot in the States. Kingfisher have owned B & Q for many years now.
Last piece of useless trivia - Screwfix moving their warehouse from Somerset to the Midlands this year, so will be plenty of stock on clearance.
BTW, do we need a poll on the corporate ownership?
