Had a screwfix flyer/brochure come through the door today and noticed they were pushing new range of dewalt hand tools exclusive to screwfix.
They look great just seems a bit odd the sudden move to hand tools aswell :?

Just what is going on with that weird looking 'side strike' chisel with a serrated edge?
How desperate they must be to go for novelty, regardless of whether or not anyone would ever need such a thing!

I was a loyal dewalt cordless buyer for years. At the time every other manufacturer was way ahead of dewalt with the variety of different cordless things available- so I jumped ship and switched to makita. Dewalt do seem to have upped there game, now offering li-ion and loads more cordless tools but for me they were way to long playing catch up.
The prices of the hand tools do seem quite expensive compared with the same tool of a recognised brand it just seems a odd move to make as I still don't consider their cordless range good enough to switch back.

I've a similar Hultafors one- it hasn't the cap or the serrations. It's a very useful little tool - and half the price.
That was the only thing I considered buying  I was thinking it might come in usefull for knocking out old putty and would fit in one of my chisel slots without modification. They can keep the £35 tape measure !

Seems that the marketing team/gimmick devisors have had free rein: 'high velocity hammer' :?:

We sell something similar to that side strike chisel and they are very popular with window fitters - for removing putty and the like. (cheaper too :) )

£35 for a tape measure... unreal
