There seems to be a couple of old posts on here referring to a group buy, did it ever take place? If it happened, or if it won't in future, does Anyone know of a stockist that does it with just one 4a battery? I want to buy one but can't stretch to £550 which seems to be the price currently. Cheers everyone,

It hasn't happened yet. I was one of the testers and was told dewalt would do some sort of deal through this forum ie a free drill body when you buy the gun. Haven't heard anything from them for ages now, last I heard they were struggling to keep up with demand so didn't want to offer a deal if they couldn't supply it.

Cheers for reply. That's a shame. I was hoping for it being cheaper rather than free goodies as I can't quite stretch to full price.

An alternative would be for me to buy it bare, but I only have two 3ah li-ion batteries currently. Do you think they would provide sufficiently for a decent amount of nailing or are the 4ah batteries leagues ahead of those?

Thanks.

To be honest I haven't got much dewalt I'm more into festool, Bosch , metabo etc so I can't compare batteries. I would say though that they last for ages and fire lots of 4" nails so must be pretty good.

Just seen a review on YouTube, and it shows leaving some pretty bad indentation marks once 90mm nails have been driven in. Is this just because of the force needed on 90mm nails, or would 50mm into cladding also suffer the same marks?

Any experiences would be good. Cheers guys.

These sorts of guns are not really for finish work.

They do leave lots of dents in cladding etc

If you have a pneumatic one you can turn down the air pressure so that the nail is left a little proud and finish it by hand.

Oh that's disappointing as I will need something suitable for that. Any options?

I'm guessing something powerful enough for 90mm nails won't be suitable for cladding. Any ideas?

Well mine's been fine, I used it just the other day to put featheredge boarding on my workshop and it was very neat.

It comes with a plastic no mar foot that fits on the nose and stops any damage.
Also the depth is fully adjustable.

I wouldn't use it for smooth cladding like shiplap etc but that's not what it's meant for anyway. You'd want a 16 gauge nailer for that.

Ultimate handy man says it all really

Obviously on roofs or stud work it wouldn't matter but if you're doing stuff where it's on show you just use the no mar tip.
