My dewalt 54v charger has suddenly started blowing fuses.

It went suddenly when I turned it on to charge a battery. Changed the fuse and it did it again.

Took it apart to see if anything was immediately obvious but couldn't see anything. Swapped fuse one last time while disassembled and it emitted a flash where the blue arrow indicates.

I have soldering skills but not really any in depth electronics knowledge.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as I'd rather repair than buy another, obviously!

You should pop the board out and inspect the back side for blown traces. See if a multimeter will indicate a short between L+N.

The component on the heat sink is most likely the switching transistor. Read the numbers on the front and search for it at somewhere like RS-online. Remove it, and see if the multimeter shows the fault has gone.

The difficulty with electronics repair is: is the blown component the primary or secondary fault, and what did it take with it? Everything’s interconnected.
