I'm back. I had a friend come over earlier and he has sold me his DeWalt 788 scroll saw, I think I got a good deal for £80. It has been in his shed for a couple of years and looks grubby but it is all on the surface and with some TLC it will come up like new but I am not sure how to treat the cast iron table. It has surface rust on it and I would like to bring it back to its former glory so any advice on how to clean the table up would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

My favorite de ruster is Diesel , paint some on the table and leave it for a couple of days , then wipe off

If the rust is bad it may cause pitting to the surface , nothing you can do to sort that out

Then using a flat block and some 800 wet and dry give the surface a light clean using a bit more diesel

Wipe off , de grease and coat with some hard wax , quick polish

Job Done
