I am thinking of purchasing a delta p/t and a perform jointer but i am also going to need some meens of detecting metal in recycled wood so my question is instead of forking out £60 for a lumber wizard is it possible to use a pipe detector the one that you would use when drilling walls just so you don't drill into pipes or wiring as you can pick one up for less than £15 if so how accurate are they?

I have the Little Wizard and find it invaluable on recycled timber. Maybe about a 2" depth of scan. About £18 or so from Axminster. Waay better than a stud / pipe detector.
Enjoy the Delta BTW.

Noel could you please point me in the right direction as i have looked on the axminster site and i can only find the one which is £58.
