Hi, I'm designing a model stand for large RC planes similar to the one shown in the pictures. The one shown is made in the USA but I want to make one local. Would anyone know where to get the knob with the threaded screw (and suppliers that I might be cheaper use if any of my mates would want to make them one)?

anyone know decent companies in UK that can cut (milling or laser cutting furniture grade plywood) for me the design?

Thanks
George

i cant see the threaded knob. but I would guess that it is something like this:

nice company from my experience, but i have only used them a couple of times. They are also very well priced.

as for the cutting- how many do you plan to make? if it is small numbers, could you not cut the template from mdf and use a hand router to follow that? I am told that cnc work is getting ever cheaper, but I would think that you would struggle to make it worthwhile on a single unit, by the time that the code has been written etc.

thanks for the link, yes that's what I was after. I have given dxf drawings for parts to various people that have small laser cutters and they usually do it for me relatively cheap. these are mostly 1mm to 3mm light plywood jobs for rc plane repairs or designs but the stand is would be probably be 12mm or 18mm thick ply so I thought you guys would have some leads I could use.

regarding cost and numbers... well dunno at the moment, trying to figure that out. I suppose numbers depend how much people are willing to pay and make it worthwhile for me doing it..

I just spent my lunchtime looking at that company offerings. W O W....

is there any other similar companies to know of?
:)

what people use for screws on these threaded knobs. (lets say I use either a male or a female knob)
