We (missus 'n me) were up in London this weekend and today, due to the rain, our hosts suggested we cancel the planned walk on Hampstead Heath and do something "indoors". We went to the deisgn museum and I can recommend it as a interesting place to visit.
It had quite a bit on the second floor about the development of "modern" furniture, the start of the mass-furniture builders taking over from the hand-made stuff, and about the designers starting to try new materials and colours/techniques.
All in all it was really quite interesting.
